Cheap Roses

If you know the right places to go, you can get certain things here at unbelievably cheap prices.

On Avenida Federalismo, a ways north of Avenida Vallarta, there's a section of town where all the shops are flower vendors. You can get arrangements or cut flowers, depending on where you go. I picked up these 18 roses for $70 MXN (which at the time of this writing is $6.37 USD).

My friend's fiancée is getting a master's in some retarded subject and has spent time in South America studying the flower industry. Apparently all the U.S.'s cut flowers come from there.

Perhaps they're so cheap because you're closer? Still, that's cheap.

She also said to avoid Olney's florists, saying the freshest flowers by far are at Wal-Mart because they have such a kickass distribution system and, most importantly, we have a Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Olney.

Neither of us are fans of the Mart, but I hate them less here than I would elsewhere because they provide 700 high-paying jobs.

those pics are really cool, you should do a series
about ironic signs or crumbling movie theaters:

They are gorgeous indeed. We can't even get good ones at Wal-Mart - they last a day and then turn brown. Sigh. Can't wait to grow my own....
