DOH!
Shawn and I were deeply saddened today when we went to see The Simpsons Movie, and were told that at the time we wanted to see it, it was dubbed into Spanish, not in the original English with Spanish subtitles. We were devastated to learn that we cannot see it anywhere in Buenos Aires with subtitles. Every single showing is dubbed in Spanish.
We looked to see about Mexico, and it appears it will only be dubbed and not subtitled there as well.
I'm crushed. BOO! Shame on you Cinépolíis for not screening animated films in their original laguages!

I saw it at the Arcadia yesterday. It was funny. I laughed and repeated as necessary.
It was in English.

ONE Cinépolis screen in Guadalajara shows Ratatouille in English with Spanish subtitles--all the rest (and it is showing everywhere in town) have it dubbed.
Remember that animated features are generally considered to be children's movies and many children learn to read way past the age when they're first considered to be Cinépolis customers.
I hope you're having a great time, even without The Simpsons!
[crispy says: There are a lot of cinemas showing Ratatouille with subtitles in Buenos Aires...a LOT of them. That's why we thought that they might show The Simpsons with subtitles. I know animated features are presumed to be for kids, but that's not always something that should be assumed. While that makes sense for Disney films perhaps, it is outright wrong that The Simpsons (neither the TV show, nor the movie) is targeted towards children. It is not, nor has it ever been, a children's cartoon.]

that totally sucks. the movie was great. did you go anyway?
[crispy says: No. I went to see Volver when it came out, but then again, Spanish was its original language. When I see The Simpsons, I want it to be 100% new for me, not something where I saw it before and understood 70% of it. It's just crappy that I'll not get to see it on the big screen. It will just end up being like a regular episode that's long and letterboxed. :( ]
