"This is the school I work for..."

Shawn comes home today and tells me about the administration's plan for rewarding the students for good performance. He had suggested extra recess or maybe getting to watch a movie. Instead, the geniuses came up with this killer idea.

Each teacher will get a set of flags for various subjects to put on the wall. The top student in each category will have their photo put under it. WOO HOO! What fun!

They look like this:

Award flag for "Listening"

Award flag for "Writing Skills"

...but this says it all about he school where Shawn works:

Another funny thing about it is, they have seven teachers that are supposed to use them, but they only made five sets of flags.

this is how the US Government works too!

Goal: seek a way to boost morale.

Step 1: find someone's grandma with a sewing machine.
Step 2: make five sets of flags, b2 bombers, fluffy pompoms, or halliburton contracts...
Step 3: charge for seven.

Goal! -- morale boosted and grandma's happy!

and no one has to watch a movie or receive extra recess.

hmmm. that gold fringe is pretty fancy! I think if they put my photo under "listening" I'd have to go around all month (or however long it was there) yelling "WHAT? WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?"

There's four sets now since Shawn stole a set to decorate your apartment.

Hi Crispy and Shawn,

That is a great story. I thought you would like to know that Annie is now attending a "charter" public school. After four months now, Annie is asking to switch schools to attend another private school. Why? The kids at her school are not motivated and it is boring. After what I have seen at Annie's school, your flag reward system comes in close to tieing with the idea of let's just give all the kids A's. Do we really care if the kids are learning anything? Well at least the kids care.
